I love Tom Waits, but I LOVE Nick Cave. Who I think ultimately is a bit closer to Lanegan’s wheelhouse sonically and lyrically than Waits. Music taste is obviously very subjective, but I’d definitely recommend continuing to try out listening to Cave intermittently over the years to see if he’s clicking.
