Tomas Thormodsæter Haugen (nacido en Hammerfest, Noruega; el 9 de junio de 1974), más conocido como Samoth, es un músico noruego de metal extremo. Haugen es el fundador de las bandas Emperor y Zyklon, además ha colaborado con otras bandas como Burzum, Gorgoroth y Satyricon.
Samoth (born Tomas Thormodsæter Haugen, 9 June 1974) is a Norwegian guitarist and multi-instrumentalist in the country's black metal scene. He is well known for his distinct guitar work and drumming in the band Emperor , as well as his formation of the death metal band Zyklon .
Biography. Samoth is the son of Spoonful of Blues bassist Jens Olav Haugen, who encouraged him to play bass guitar. He grew up in Akkerhaugen, Norway. When Samoth was a young man, he met a fellow musician (who would later become known as Ihsahn) at a rock clinic in Bergen.

Emperor. Pictured from left to right: Trym Torson, Ihsahn, and Samoth. Played their first gig on April 13th, 1992, alongside Enslaved, Algol, and Infinite Decay. Emperor was known as one of the most infamous Norwegian black metal bands during the early and mid-1990s.
