Sam "Sluggo" Phipps (born on October 1st, 1953) is an American saxophone player, best known for being a member of the new wave band Oingo Boingo.
Oingo Boingo ( / ˈɔɪŋɡoʊ ˈbɔɪŋɡoʊ /) was an American new wave band formed by songwriter Danny Elfman in 1979. The band emerged from a surrealist musical theatre troupe, The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, that Elfman had led and written material for in the years previous. [5] .

Samuel Cornelius Phillips (January 5, 1923 – July 30, 2003) [1] was an American disc jockey, songwriter and record producer. He was the founder of Sun Records and Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, where he produced recordings by Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Howlin' Wolf.
