Sam " Sluggo " Phipps (born on October 1st, 1953) is an American saxophone player, best known for being a member of the new wave band Oingo Boingo .
Sam Phipps is a multi-instrumentalist who played with various jazz and rock bands, including Annette Peacock and Oingo Boingo. He also composed music for films and TV shows, and released his own album "Animal Sounds" in 1981.
Samuel Cornelius Phillips (January 5, 1923 – July 30, 2003) [1] was an American disc jockey, songwriter and record producer. He was the founder of Sun Records and Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, where he produced recordings by Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Howlin' Wolf.
