About Rubén González . Born on May 26, 1919 in Encrucijada, Cuba, jazz pianist Rubén González played with Enrique Jorrín’s band for many years before retiring in the 1980s. González then returned to music as a featured member of the Buena Vista Social Club, performing in a documentary and album of the same name.
Rubén González (born May 26, 1919, Santa Clara, Cuba - died December 8, 2003, Havana, Cuba) was a Cuban pianist. He was a legend in Cuban music and counted as one of the most influential pianists of the music style Son. He became internationally known in the 1990's through Ry Cooder's Buena Vista Social Club and afterwards released two albums.

Introducing... Rubén González is the second studio album by Cuban pianist Rubén González. It was recorded at EGREM studios in Havana, Cuba, during April 1996, as the last of the sessions that also yielded the albums A Toda Cuba le Gusta and Buena Vista Social Club.
