Ruan Pienaar (born 10 March 1984) is a South African professional rugby union player who currently plays either as a scrum-half or as a fly-half for the Free State Cheetahs in the Currie Cup. Pienaar is the son of former Springbok fullback Gysie Pienaar. Ruan is regarded as a very skilful rugby player.

Ruan Pienaar was inducted into the RugbyPass Hall of Fame in 2021. Throughout his distinguished domestic career, Ruan Pienaar has represented some of the world’s finest sides. He played for the Sharks in the Currie Cup and Super Rugby until 2010, when he moved to Europe.

The 2007 Rugby World Cup winner, who is equally adept at scrum-half or fly-half, is set to turn 40 next year but will continue playing for at least another season.
