Nektar vocalist and guitarist Roye Albrighton has died after a long illness, former bandmate Derek ‘Mo’ Moore has confirmed. Albrighton passed away in Poole, Dorset, at the age of 67, three years after the launch of Nektar’s latest album Time Machine.

Yes, it’s real, Roye has left us, and I can’t begin to describe my feelings: shocked, devastated, overwhelmed.
The legendary rock singer/songwriter Roye Albrighton, who led the prog rock band Nektar, passed away peacefully at the age of 67. He had just completed the text for a book about the group he founded and led, and collaborated with Cleopatra Records on various projects. The label extends its sympathies to his family and friends.
