He graduated to Formula One by 1952 and competed regularly until 1962 for a succession of teams including Cooper, Vanwall, BRM, Aston Martin and Connaught.

  7. Roy Salvadori was a British racing driver and team manager who competed in Formula One from 1952 to 1962 for various teams, including Cooper, Aston Martin, Vanwall and BRM. He won the 1959 24 Heures du Mans with Carroll Shelby and also won several non-championship races and Sebring events. He was a versatile and charismatic driver who overcame a serious accident in 1951 and a hearing loss in one ear.
