4 de sept. de 2020 · Keyboardist Ron Stockert’s musical life ran full circle, playing in bands in high school in central Illinois to a “golden” career with Rufus and as a successful session musician, and back to enjoying playing in local venues back home in Decatur.
Rufus is the debut album by American R&B and funk band Rufus, released on the ABC Records label in 1973 fronted by singers Chaka Khan and Ron Stockert. The album is notable for an upbeat rock/soul sound that would be replaced by a more heavy direction into funk and jazzy-styled recordings.
Another former Rufus band member, Ron Stockert, was recruited as second keyboardist after Konte left in the first half of 1976. The group played their final show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on July 26, 1976.
In 1973, Rufus released their first album. While Khan handled lead vocals on seven of the tracks, then-member Ron Stockert also led on a number of tracks.

Stockert, Ron. He is a keyboardist, singer-songwriter and arranger who started in the music business in Decatur, Illinois in the 1960s when he and Steve Hunter were the main performers in the group The Light Brigade.
Among the outstanding musicians that have contributed to the band’s history are Ron Stockert, Dennis Belfield, Al Ciner and Andre’ Fischer from the early years to Bobby Watson, Nate Morgan, Richard “Moon” Calhoun, John “JR” Robinson and David “Hawk” Wolinski.
