Roland Aubrey Leighton (27 March 1895 – 23 December 1915) was a British poet and soldier, made posthumously famous by his fiancée Vera Brittain 's memoir, Testament of Youth. [1] Life and career. His parents, Robert Leighton and Marie Connor, were both writers.

Roland Leighton. Roland Leighton was a British poet and soldier. Educated at Uppingham School he became a close friend of Vera Brittain’s brother, Edward. On the outbreak of the First World War he enlisted as a second lieutenant in the 4th Norfolks.
