Roger Taylor’s music career began with a band called Smile in 1968, which also included future Queen lead guitarist Brian May. After meeting Freddie Mercury in 1969, Taylor, May, and Mercury formed the band Queen, recruiting bassist John Deacon to complete the lineup.

A UK-based radio station called ‘Planet Rock’ conducted a poll in 2005, in which, as per the votes, Roger was the 8th greatest drummer of all time in the classic-rock genre.
