Rod Demick (Prestatyn , 1947) is een Brits bassist. Hij begint al snel in de muziek als hij in Belfast, Noord-Ierland op negenjarige leeftijd de ukelele gaat spelen bij een gospelkoor. Nadat hij overstapt op gitaar start hij zijn eerste eigen bandje The Vibros, later The Telstars genaamd.

Rod Demick started playing in Belfast in 1962, whilst still at school. He came over to England and joined ex-Belfast band The Wheels, who scored a hit with “Gloria”. Demick then teamed up in the very early 70s with Herbie Armstrong, initially as The James Brothers, becoming the backing band for Screaming Lord Sutch.

Early days. The Strawbs formed in 1964 as the Strawberry Hill Boys while the founder members were at St Mary's Teacher Training College, Strawberry Hill, London.The name was shortened to 'The Strawbs' for a June 1967 concert in which they wanted to display the band name on stage.
