Robert Hurst (born October 4, 1964) is an American jazz bassist. Biography. Hurst played guitar early in his career before concentrating on bass. He worked with Out of the Blue in 1985 and also did work with musicians such as Tony Williams, Mulgrew Miller, Harry Connick Jr., Geri Allen, Russell Malone, and Steve Coleman.

Robert Hurst is a Grammy-winning bassist, educator, and composer who has performed and recorded with many jazz legends and pop stars. He is also the director of jazz ensembles at the University of Michigan and a member of the John and Alice Coltrane Foundation.
