Richard Francis Gombrich ( / ˈɡɒmbrɪtʃ /; born 17 July 1937) is a British Indologist and scholar of Sanskrit, Pāli, and Buddhist studies. He was the Boden Professor of Sanskrit at the University of Oxford from 1976 to 2004. He is currently Founder-President of the Oxford Centre for Buddhist Studies.
Richard Gombrich is the Emeritus Professor of Sanskrit at Oxford University and a member of the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and Balliol College. He is the Founder and Director of the Oxford Centre for Buddhist Studies as well as the General Editor of the Clay Sanskrit Library .
