Return of a Stranger is a 1937 British drama film directed by Victor Hanbury and starring Griffith Jones, Rosalyn Boulter, Ellis Jeffries and Athole Stewart. The film was made at Shepperton Studios as a Quota quickie, and was distributed by RKO Pictures to meet the company's annual requirement under the Quota.

Return of a Stranger plot. James Martin and Carol Wall plan to run away from home together, but a fight with her father's lawyer leads to a murder committed by a third party. James is suspected of this and the hunt is started. Carol refuses to talk to Martin and he flees by ship to South Africa.
Carol refuses to speak to him, and he escapes on a ship to South Africa. There, he is the victim of an accident that disfigures his face, and he returns to England to clear his name, believing he won't be recognized. Other than by everybody who knew him, it turns out.
