It’s likely I heard their version back then, but I have no memory of it. 3 So of course I had to find it. Here’s the single version (there’s also an extended stereo mix):

It topped the US Charts 60 years ago today, on 28 November 1964. The song was labelled a “teenage tragedy song“. It’s about a girl named Betty, who is dating Jimmy, the leader of a motorcycle gang.

Hace 5 días · "Remember (Walking in the Sand)" was the first song to chart for The Shangri-Las, peaking at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 from 1964. A young and still unknown Billy Joel played piano on the session for this song and The Shangri-Las follow-up (and biggest hit) "Leader of the Pack", which went to number one in the same year.
