Quicksilver Messenger Service är ett psykedeliskt rockband bildat år 1965 i San Francisco, Kalifornien, USA.Gruppen ingick tillsammans med bland andra Jefferson Airplane och the Grateful Dead i den första vågen av psykedeliska San Francisco-grupper. De är främst kända för låten "Fresh Air" som 1970 nådde plats 49 på Billboard Hot 100-listan.

Along with the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service were one of the first and best of the San Francisco '60s psychedelic bands. Though they shared with their peers an improvisational bent and eclectic roots in blues, jazz, folk, and rock, what helped set them apart was the distinctive twin-guitar work of John Cipollina and Gary Duncan, two virtuosic players.

I have been listening to this album since I first heard it in Rupert’s attic in the late 60’s, and despite owning several versions on a variety of different formats, this is the best I have ever heard it.
