  6. Between 1902 and 1910, Seattle's total high school enrollment leaped from approximately 700 to around 4,500. Several new elementary schools were constructed atop Queen Anne Hill, and it was evident that a new high school would be needed to accommodate these students as they moved on to 9th grade.
