25 de nov. de 2016 · My take on it, having read the prior paragraph, is that "the heaviest ore of the body" is a metaphor for "her/one's body's resistance" to sex and this is "smelted out" of her. "into purity" could mean "into pure enjoyment"? which would make more sense if, as you suggest, there was a comma after it rather than a full-stop.

20 de jul. de 2007 · So, on reflection, the jury is indeed out as to whether it is a question of grammar, or a question of pure convention. There is also the issue of 'to be + adj.', which is a case of the verb 'to be' describing a state.
10 de may. de 2008 · Talking about pure numbers, we can also use plurals: 'the total is somewhere in the two thousands' = it's somewhere between 2000 and 2999, but I'm not sure where. We talk about 'the low two thousands' (2000 to perhaps about 2300) and 'the low thousands' (somewhere over 1000 to about 3000, but not a larger number of thousands).
