The bill, which was later passed unanimously, prevented treatment centers from using “cruel, severe, unusual, or unnecessary practice on a child” including strip searches or a body cavity search — routine exams for Hilton at the Provo Canyon School, she said.

Academics. Provo Canyon School has long maintained a tradition of academic excellence within the residential treatment community. Accredited by Cognia, we offer direct classroom instruction for students in grades 6-12. Teachers are certified in their content area, and currently have or are working on a Special Education Licensure.

Programs. Provo Canyon School is accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the State of Utah to provide Residential Treatment to youth between the ages of 12 and 18. We are known for our comprehensive programs that provide a wide range of individualized and compassionate care to the students and families we serve.
Provo Canyon School was founded in 1971 by Dr. Robert Crist and Jack Williams. Initially, it was a boys-only school with a campus located in Provo, Ut. Later, they expanded to open a girls’ program in nearby Orem, UT (which later moved to Springville, UT in the mid-2000s). Provo Canyon School has been marketed as a residential treatment center for children between the ages of 8-18.
