He studied at the Athens and Paris conservatories. A member of the wartime resistance, he remained active in politics, serving several times in the Greek parliament.
Mikis Theodorakis is a renowned Greek troubadour and one of his country's greatest composers. He wrote many symphonies, cantatas, several ballets and operas, plus popular songs including "Zorba the Greek," famous from Herb Alpert's instrumental hit. Born in 1925 on the Greek island of Chios, Theodorakis began writing songs quite early.
The acclaimed Greek composer and orchestra conductor Mikis Theodorakis, 85, has admitted in a TV interview that he was an "anti-Semite and anti-Zionist." He said that "everything that happens today in the world has to do with the Zionists" and that "American Jews are behind the world economic crisis that has hit Greece also."

4 de may. de 2024 · Ο Μίκης Θεοδωράκης υπήρξε πολιτικός, πρώην υπουργός, τέσσερις φορές εκλεγμένος βουλευτής του ελληνικού κοινοβουλίου με το ΚΚΕ και την ΝΔ, ενώ τάχθηκε κατά της συμφωνίας των Πρεσπών για το Μακεδονικό. Απεβίωσε στις 2 Σεπτεμβρίου του 2021. Η πορεία του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη.
