After the release of Gilded Shadows and The Poisoner in 1997, Lemos took a break from making music, and put Controlled Bleeding on hold. According to later interviews, this break was due to a lack of musical inspiration that set in after working so hard on the last two releases.

Music: Controlled Bleeding. Paul Lemos co-founded Controlled Bleeding, an experimental band, in Boston circa 1978. Lemos moved back to Massapequa, New York, reformed the group and ultimately released the band's ear-shattering debut full-length, KNEES AND BONES in 1982. The record is considered one of the earliest recordings of American power electronics.
