His clients included the Duchess of Windsor , the Queen of Belgium, and many of the leading film stars of the 1950s, as well as the experimental writer Gertrude Stein and her companion, Alice B. Toklas.
Pierre Balmain n'avait que 30 ans lorsque Paris fut libéré en août 1944. Fort de cette liberté retrouvée, Balmain décida qu'il était temps pour lui de fonder sa propre Maison de couture.
