Peter John Haycock (4 March 1951 – 30 October 2013) [1] was an English musician and film score composer. He began his career as lead guitarist, vocalist, and founding member of the Climax Blues Band .

Peter Haycock’s post-Climax career has included a successful run with ELO Part Two. While he still stays in touch with most of the original Climax band members, he says it’s strictly business. In the past decade Climax Blues Band settled into a comfortable groove playing blues festivals.
Climax Blues Band are saddened by the news of the death of Peter Haycock on October 30th 2013 in Germany. Peter was a founder member of the band in 1967 and performed with the band through to 1985 and was one of the finest exponents of slide guitar of his time, and a great singer.

The band were formed in Stafford, Staffordshire, England, in 1967 by vocalist and harmonica player Colin Cooper (1939–2008), guitarist and vocalist Pete Haycock (1951–2013), guitarist Derek Holt (b. 1949), bassist and keyboardist Richard Jones (b. 1949), drummer George Newsome (b. 1947), and keyboardist Arthur Wood (1929–2005).
