The Wessex Suite is an excellent example of music evoking holidays by the seaside. It has three movements - Revels in Hogsnorton; The Blue Poole and the March; Rustic Cavalry. Hogsnorton was a mythical English village created by the then popular comedian Gillie Potter.
11 de feb. de 2007 · The Wessex suite (1937) consists of three movements of relatively formulaic light music; it starts with a rather dull waltz, Revels in Hogsnorton, but it is followed by a very fine slow movement, The Blue Poole, with a quite beautiful main theme.
