Biographie. Paul Scofield commence sa carrière en 1940 et tourne dans plus d'une dizaine de films, en obtenant l'Oscar du meilleur acteur en 1966 pour le rôle de Sir Thomas More dans Un homme pour l'éternité de Fred Zinnemann, mais c'est au théâtre qu'il s'imposa dans de grands rôles shakespeariens, notamment Le Roi Lear, mise en scène par Peter Brook, et fut un immense Coriolan.

19 de mar. de 2008 · David Paul Scofield CH CBE was an English actor. During a six-decade career, Scofield achieved the Triple Crown of Acting, winning an Academy Award, Emmy, and Tony for his work. Scofield established a reputation as one of the greatest Shakespearean performers. He declined the honour of a knighthood, but was appointed CBE in 1956 and became a CH in 2001.
