Patrick Anthony Jennings CBE (born 12 June 1945) is a Northern Irish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Jennings is widely recognised as one of the greatest goalkeepers in history. He played 119 international matches for Northern Ireland in an international career which lasted for over 22 years.

After turning out for nearby under 18 team Shamrock Rovers (Newry) whilst age 11 at school, Jennings decided to pay his full attention to Gaelic football for the next five years before returning to Newry.

He praised the statue as "unbelievable" and "fantastic" and said it meant "everything" to him. He also shared his health update after taking ill at a game.
