Passionworks is the seventh studio album by American rock band Heart, recorded March–June 1983, released on August 20, 1983, by Epic. The album marks a shift in musical direction from hard rock and folk to mainstream rock. It is the first Heart album to feature Denny Carmassi and Mark Andes, who had replaced longtime members Michael Derosier ...
Passionworks is also the first Heart album to feature a new track by an outside songwriter- "Allies," by Jonathan Cain of Journey. This track was imposed on the band by Epic, a very different situation to the oldies the band covered on Magazine and Greatest Hits / Live , and a foretaste of the tracks foisted on the band in the later 80s.
