The concept here has something to do with the decline of America in the '70s, based on the condemnation and destruction of the Paradise Theater, a famous showplace in the band's hometown of Chicago.

Although some of its overproduction hints at the atrocities to come in the next album, it's still a fantastic album nonetheless, and a high point in Styx's career. Return to Paradise is the second live album by Styx, released in 1997, and their first album after signing with CMC International.It features songs from their successful reunion tour with Tommy Shaw, but without John Panozzo, who died in July 1996.It includes three new studio tracks, "On My Way," "Paradise," and "Dear John."
