John Lee Williamson, (Jackson , 30 de marzo de 1914 — Chicago , 1 de junio de 1948) conocido en el mundo del blues como Sonny Boy Wiliamson I, fue un armonicista y cantante estadounidense. No debe confundirse con Rice Miller , nacido Aleck Ford y conocido como Sonny Boy Williamson II .
In an attempt to capitalize on Williamson's fame, Aleck "Rice" Miller began recording and performing as Sonny Boy Williamson in the early 1940s, and later, to distinguish the two, John Lee Williamson came to be known as Sonny Boy Williamson I or "the original Sonny Boy".

Aleck Rice Miller recorded and performed as Sonny Boy Williamson beginning in 1940s. Later, John Lee Williamson was referred to as Sonny Boy Williamson I, or “the original Sonny Boy” to differentiate the two. Williamson was born in Madison County in Tennessee, near Jackson in 1914.
