Yes are an English progressive rock band founded in 1968 by lead singer Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Peter Banks, keyboardist Tony Kaye, and drummer Bill Bruford.
Peter Banks was Yes’s original guitarist from 1968 to 1970. His jazz and rock influenced guitar work featured on the first two Yes albums, Yes (1969) and Time and a Word (1970). Banks’s style was foundational in developing Yes’s early sound, blending rock with symphonic elements.
Among the longest serving members of the band, Squire (the last original member) died in 2015, and White died in 2022. Yes are one of the most successful, influential, and longest-lasting progressive rock bands. They have sold 13.5 million RIAA-certified albums in the U.S., as well as more than 30 million albums worldwide.

Founded in 1968 by vocalist Anderson and bassist Squire, Yes went through several early personnel changes before stabilizing around Anderson, guitarist Howe, Squire, and keyboardist Wakeman, all of whom played on the group’s fourth album, Fragile (1972).
