Operation Mincemeat was a secret operation in 1943 to fool the Germans about the true target for the Allied invasion of Sicily. A dead body was ‘planted’ off the coast of Spain with secret documents that purported to reveal Greece and Sardinia as the true objectives. The Germans sent more troops to these areas, while the Allies launched their invasion on 9 July 1943.
