Opening the Caravan of Dreams is a 1985 live album by jazz saxophonist Ornette Coleman and his Prime Time ensemble. It was recorded at a concert inaugurating the Caravan of Dreams, a then-newly opened performing arts center in Coleman's hometown of Fort Worth, Texas.

This album presents the work of a composer who is recognized as one of the all-time great innovators on alto saxophone, violin, and trumpet, as he leads his band, Prime Time, in a live set recorded during the grand opening of the Caravan of Dreams, the new performing arts complex in his home town, Fort Worth, Texas.
Presented on this album are live recordings of Ornette and his Prime Time band performing for the opening of the Caravan of Dreams club/cultural center in Ornette’s home town of Fort Worth Texas. This is basically an extension of the same funk/R&B and free jazz fusion that the group had performed and recorded in the past.
