Martin tells Tolkein his stuff needs more sex appeal, and the way he's portrayed here makes this function more as a criticism of Martin than a diss against Tolkein. Not a fan of the closer; never heard of David the Gnome prior to this so that reference goes unappreciated by me, and "your hobbit-hole heroes can't handle my throne" isn't clever or substantive.
