Along with Truman Capote, Joan Didion, and Tom Wolfe, Mailer is considered an innovator of creative nonfiction, a genre sometimes called New Journalism, but which covers the essay to the nonfiction novel.He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize twice and the National Book Award once.

Norman Mailer, 1967. Norman Kingsley Mailer (* 31.Januar 1923 in Long Branch, New Jersey; † 10. Biografía de Norman Mailer. De origen judío, vivió su infancia en Nueva York. Estudió Ingeniería Aeronaútica en la Universidad de Harvard, y ya interesado en la literatura, comenzó a publicar con dieciocho años. Tras el paréntesis de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, en la que sirvió en el ejército, estudió literatura en La Sorbona.
