Sir Nigel Barnard Hawthorne (Coventry (Warwickshire), 5 april 1929 – Radwell (Hertfordshire), 26 december 2001) was een Engelse acteur. Zijn volledige naam luidde Nigel Barnard Hawthorne. Reeds van kleins af aan wilde hij acteur worden. Hij groeide op in Zuid-Afrika en kwam in 1951 terug naar Engeland.

26 de dic. de 2001 · Sir Nigel Hawthorne dies. Sir Nigel said acting life was a "struggle for dignity and justification". Sir Nigel Hawthorne, one of Britain's most respected actors, has died aged 72. His agent confirmed that he died at 0930 GMT on 26 December at his Hertfordshire home. He died from a heart attack but had been fighting cancer for the last 18 months.
Nigel Hawthorne never got married and was an intensely private person even as an actor. He was in a long relationship with his partner Trevor Bentham, a former English stage manager and screenwriter. Their relationship started in 1979 and continued until Hawthorne’s death in 2001.
