The married couple posted a message on Twitter where Howard explained the difficulty of the decision: “We are sorry to let you know that both myself and Nick have stepped down from The Wedding Present.
Nicholas Wellauer [drums] from Animal House replaced Hardwick in August 2021. Gedge, Stewart, Howard, Hardwick and Wellauer went on to record Locked Down And Stripped Back, Locked Down And Stripped Back Volume Two and 24 Songs during 2020, 2021 and 2022.
