This is a great example of who New Yorkers are and why it confuses people. New Yorkers are nice but always on a rush. We always have somewhere to be. Ask for directions we will give directions but as you turn around to thank us we will be gone. We have no time for small talk or long thank you. I get it thanks now let me be on my way.
