Nelson Piquet Souto Maior (Río de Janeiro, Brasil; 17 de agosto de 1952), más conocido como Nelson Piquet, es un expiloto de automovilismo brasileño. Obtuvo tres campeonatos en 1981, 1983 y 1987, finalizado subcampeón en 1980 y tercero en 1986 y 1990.
Nelson Piquet Souto Maior (Brazilian Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈnɛwsõ piˈke], born 17 August 1952) is a Brazilian retired racing driver and businessman who won the World Drivers' Championship three times in the years 1981, 1983 and 1987.
After winning twice in 1990 and once the next year he left Formula One racing at the age of 40, though he wasn't yet finished with motorsport. An attempt to qualify for the 1992 Indianapolis 500 ended in the worst accident of his career, leaving him with badly crushed lower limbs.
