Neilia Hunter Biden (July 28, 1942 – December 18, 1972) was an American teacher and the first wife of Joe Biden, the 46th president of the United States. She died in a car crash in 1972 with their one-year-old daughter, Naomi .

She died in a car accident in 1972, along with her infant daughter Amy, when their station wagon was hit by a truck on a rural road in Hockessin, Delaware. The president's life was upended by this tragedy and he later remarried Jill Jacobs.
