On October 6, Island Records/UMe will release an expanded edition of the long out-of-print Mystery Road featuring the remastered original album along with nine previously unreleased demos produced by Peter Buck of R.E.M.

10 de nov. de 2017 · The demos on this re-release were all produced by R.E.M.’s Peter Buck, more proof that DNC was just about every Georgia rocker’s favorite band at the time. For demos, the songs here are not that far removed from the final product that ended up on the official record, with most being fully formed by this stage.
R.E.M's Peter Buck was originally earmarked to be the producer of the Mystery Road album. He was a friend of the band, and they recorded demos together. However, Island Records refused their choice and picked Scott McPherson to be the producer. Darius Rucker's fifth album, When Was the Last Time, features a cover of this song.
