But it feels made for a very specific time and place, and the subject matter is tough to stomach and tougher to shake. It’s bleak, but without any of the life-affirming notes you might expect from an album like this.

As Mount Eerie, songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer Phil Elverum expands on the searching feel of his music with the Microphones. Confessional lyrics and free-flowing storytelling are the main constants of his work, which incorporates touches of ambient, folk, and black metal in impressionistic ways that heighten the feeling of wonder in his music.
Det er efterhånden 20 år siden, den tidligere The Microphones-frontmand Phil Elverum begyndte at optræde under aliaset Mount Eerie.
