Mother Nature (sometimes known as Mother Earth or the Earth Mother) is a personification of nature that focuses on the life-giving and nurturing aspects of nature by embodying it, in the form of a mother or mother goddess.
In Greek mythology, Gaia (/ ˈ ɡ eɪ ə, ˈ ɡ aɪ ə /; Ancient Greek: Γαῖα, romanized: Gaîa, a poetic form of Γῆ (Gê), meaning 'land' or 'earth'), also spelled Gaea (/ ˈ dʒ iː ə /), is the personification of Earth. Gaia is the ancestral mother—sometimes parthenogenic—of all life.

When you hear about “Mother Earth,” you might think of modern environmentalism or New Age spirituality. But the idea of Earth as our mother is as old as civilisation itself.
