14 de feb. de 2017 · Rutherford is an amazing and gifted bass player, but unknown to many he is equally adept on the 6-string and 12-string guitars as well as the Bass Pedals. In early live footage of Genesis, especially from 1970 to 1974, you can see how smoothly Rutherford moves from the 4-string bass to his 6 and 12 string electric and acoustic guitars.

Mike Rutherford (født 2. oktober 1950 i Guildford, Surrey) er en engelsk musiker, bedst kendt som guitarist fra Genesis, hvor han oprindeligt fungerede som bassist, senere som leadguitarist. Sideløbende med Genesis har han virket som sangskriver og guitarist for Mike & the mechanics, samt lavet enkelte soloplader.

With Genesis, Mike Rutherford built many of their musical textures, from their progressive rock days of the '70s to their hit-laden '80s and '90s output. He used bass pedals, guitars, drum machines and whatever else was at his disposal to help craft these songs, often contributing lyrics as well, notably on " Land Of Confusion ," a song he finds especially relevant today.
