Mike Piggott celebrates his final Purdue commencement with grandson Kevin Hitch, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering on Saturday (Aug. 7). Piggott, whose distinct, booming voice has been a mainstay at Purdue graduations since 2004, is retiring as commencement orator.

Mike has featured on many recordings for greats of the folk and jazz world and is known as a “Master of the jazz violin”. He worked with Bert for several years playing both violin and guitar, as a duo and as part of Bert’s ‘Conundrum’ band and, for a while in the 1980s, as part of the reformed Pentangle, appearing on two albums and on several tours with Bert.
