Biografi. Mike Leigh ble født i Broughton i Salford i Lancashire. Han fikk et stipend til Royal Academy of Dramatic Art i 1960, og utdannet seg siden ved Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, Central School of Art and Design, og London Film School.
