The live lineup came to be a three-piece with Kevin Vaughn on drums and Mike Lamping on bass. The band was signed to Fat Possum Records in 2004 after Patrick Carney from the Black Keys passed along a demo he received from Wennerstrom.
Mike Lamping has a diverse work experience, starting as President and CEO at The Citizens Bank of Ashville in 2012. Mike later served as President/Owner of Lamping Consulting from 2015 to 2017. In 2017, they became the Market President Central Ohio at Horizon Bank, before moving on to become Co-Chairman at CBUS Financial Partners, LLC in 2018.

Mike has also led an effort to create the ISA technical report on how to apply the version 3 PackML guidelines and how they relate to ISA88. I like to think wherever he’s at in the great beyond he’s feeling how much he was loved and at peace with himself. We we’re together almost 10 years, and he played bass on the 1st two Heartless Bastards records Stairs and Elevators and All This Time.
