Badfinger were a British rock band formed in 1961 in Swansea, Wales. Their best-known lineup consisted of Pete Ham (guitar), Mike Gibbins (drums), Tom Evans (bass), and Joey Molland (guitar). They are recognised for their influence on the 1970s power pop genre. It is estimated that the band sold 14 million records.

The Iveys. Mike Gibbins werd geboren op 12 maart 1949 in Swansea, Wales. Hij begon op 14-jarige leeftijd met drummen en sloot zich begin jaren 1960 aan bij zijn eerste band The Club 4. Hij speelde een tijdje in Zuid-Wales met de band The Misfits, voordat hij auditie deed voor de rivaliserende Welshe band The Iveys in 1964.
Mike Gibbins spent a decade, from 1965 through 1975, as the drummer for the Iveys and their better-known successor group, Badfinger -- that alone made him one of the more visible musicians to emerge from what might be called the British Invasion's "third wave," out of the orbit of the Beatles' Apple Records.
Evans fue elegido por McCartney como vocalista principal en este tema, que alcanzó el Top 10 mundial.
