Michael. Lehmann. Film and TV director Michael Lehmann began his career working for cinema icon Francis Ford Coppola at American Zoetrope, formerly known as Zoetrope Studios. Lehmann first broke out in the late ‘80s when he made his feature film directorial debut with the cult classic Heathers, starring Christian Slater and Winona Ryder.
Michael Stephen Lehmann (born March 30, 1957; San Francisco, California) is an American film and television director. Lehmann attended Columbia University. His first job in the film industry was answering phones at Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope film company. Later he supervised cameras on films that included 1983's The Outsiders.
Michael Lehmann made an astounding debut with the subversive high school satire HEATHERS (1988), written by Daniel Waters.He is al s o known for the Bruce Willis action comedy HUDSON HAWK (1991), a film that, like much of Lehmann's ouevre, is r i p e for reappraisal. Lehmann's films exhibit subversiveness, wild imagination, intelligence and often a concern for issues that affect us all.
