Michael Barrington (3 July 1924 – 5 June 1988) was a British actor best known for his television work. His best remembered role is as the ineffectual Governor Venables in the BBC sitcom Porridge which featured Ronnie Barker in the lead role.

After a year teaching in Spain, he was assigned as rector of an international seminary in Puerto Rico. He now lives near San Francisco. As a member of Rotary International he flies all over the world monitoring and evaluating humanitarian projects and has worked in more than 30 countries.
